Dr. Gene Stevenson, DVM (1942-2020)
Dr."Gene" originated from Darlington, Wisconsin and received his veterinary degree from Iowa State University in 1966. He served as a Captain in the US Army Veterinary Corp from 1966 to 1968. He cared for military working dogs while serving in Vietnam. He migrated to Maryland in 1977 and worked as a relief veterinarian throughout Maryland. By July of 1993, he decided to dedicate himself to his own practice and Odenton Veterinary Hospital was born.
Dr. Stevenson's has been dedicated to his passion of taking care of the health and well being of all the pets that have been through his hospital since he started in 1993.
Dr Steve will forever be missed and his legacy will go on as Odenton Veterinary Hospital will continue his dream. Thank you Dr Steve for all the exemplary work you have done .
Special Interests: Dr. Stevenson's area of special interest was surgery, and pet wellness. He was a faithful Redskins fan, and enjoyed visiting his family farm in Wisconsin.
Dr. Robert Slade, DVM
Dr. Slade is a 1994 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He obtained his B.A degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1990. He grew up on a small farm in Carroll County, Maryland complete with Jersey cattle, horses, swine, chickens and YES! dogs and cats. It is no doubt that he had a love for animals and became a veterinarian, He practiced at the Reisterstown Veterinary Center in Reisterstown, Maryland from 1994 to 1998.
Dr. Slade joined Odenton Veterinary Hospital in 1998 and has been with the hospital till this day.
Special Interests: Dr. Slade takes care of his mom's horses and has three cats of his own
Dr. Kellie Corcoran, DVM
Dr Corcoran has been a veterinarian for the past 13 years. After graduating from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, Dr Corcoran worked at a small animal practice in Manhattan, Kansas as well as an emergency clinic in Topeka, Kansas. She and her husband moved to Maryland in 2009.
Her special interests include endocrinology, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. She believes that preventative medicine is the key to raising a healthy, happy pet. She is also interested in raising awareness of the importance of adopting rescue animals.
Special Interests: Dr. Corcoran lives with her husband and rescue dog Rocko. She enjoys spending her time with family and friends, watching K-football and basketball games, horseback riding, playing the violin and attending Oriole games.
Dr. Walter Balladares, DVM, Medical Director
Dr. B. graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 where he finished his clinical year at The Ohio State University. Dr. B. worked at a small animal practice in Columbus, Ohio before returning to Maryland in the fall of 2017. He is also a Marine Corps veteran and bilingual in Spanish. Some of you may remember as a Veterinary Assistant here at Odenton Veterinary Hospital, and love and passion for the well being of animals is what inspired him to pursue his degree in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. B joined our hospital in 2017.
His special interests include behavior and oncology; he also has an interest in dental surgery.
Special Interests: Dr. B lives with his sweet pup Blair, lovely kitty Ruby and Nova, a senior cat that he adopted from the clinic. He enjoys spending his time with family and friends, watching movies at the theater, and going on trail walks with his pup.
Special Interests: Dr. Wichhart owns two horses, a dog and a cat.
Veronica Herrera, Practice Manager
Started her career in the Veterinary field at the Hickam Air Force Base Veterinary Clinic, in Honolulu Hawaii from 1985 to 1993. She moved to Maryland in 1993, worked at the Laurel Park Animal Hospital, then found her way to the Odenton Veterinary Hospital in 1995. She has made Odenton Veterinary Hospital her home ever since.
Special Interests: She enjoys playing music with the Oracle Band on weekends.
Born and raised in Pasadena, Maryland. She has been grooming since 2014. She grooms with patience and a very artful manner. Her work is outstanding and her demeanor with the animals is extraordinary. She grooms with a skillful hand and her mastery of her grooms are unprecedented.

Minnie's love for animals started her career as a veterinary technician in 2002. She took a break in 2008 to start her family, and became a small business owner in Odenton. In 2017 she returned to her passion of helping animals. She then expanded her talents to the grooming world and became a certified AKC bather. She divides her time doing veterinary technician duties and bathing animals with a flair of unprecedented love, and excellence.
All the technicians and support staff at the Odenton Veterinary Hospital are individuals who love and care for the health of animals. They are dedicated to their work and their mission is to make all pet's lives better, healthier and happier. Some technicians are college students who are studying to be veterinarians themselves. Their passion, hard work, and love of what they do makes the hospital a warm and inviting environment for all the pets and owners.
